Waterscapes, including water features like ponds, waterfalls, reflecting pools and fountains, can be a beautiful addition to any yard. The sound of moving water is somehow calming and relaxing, and water lilies and koi add beauty and appreciation to any property. The birds love the water too! The Wildlife of Pools, Ponds, Fountains, Waterfalls or even pondless Waterfalls
A wonderful aspect of your pond or stream is that it can be home to a whole new world all its own - from fish, frogs and even a turtle or two, to beautifully flowering water lilies and other plants that thrive in a moist environment. Any mosquitoes and other insects are gobbled up by fish and frogs, so you will probably have even fewer insect problems than before you added the water feature.
Decisions, decisions, decisions..........
When laying out your water feature plan, there are many options to consider, and many decisions that must be made. Do you want to hear the loud cascading sounds of a waterfall? Or perhaps just a quiet trickle of a brook? Do you want a large volume of water? Are you planning to have pets like fish and frogs and turtles? Next you will need to make a choice of materials to be used, like concrete, flexible liners, or a preformed pond. Another option is a container, but if you choose a container, you will probably be limited to having just plants and no fish in the container.
Year-Round Operation
If a water feature is correctly laid out and properly maintained, it can be operated year-round and provide enjoyment for you every month of the year. As we transition through the four seasons, a water feature adds a new dimension of our enjoyment of the great outdoors.
